A new chapter for Aqua Dental

Thank you, Dr Peter Barry — and welcome, Dr Zaid Al Momani

Aqua Dental owes its beginnings to Dr Peter Barry, who founded the practice and shaped it into the warm, welcoming clinic our community knows today. The entire team thanks Peter for his vision, his years of dedication, and the genuine care he showed every patient who walked through our doors. Aqua Dental simply wouldn't be here without him.

As Peter steps back, we're delighted to welcome Dr Zaid Al Momani as Aqua Dental's new principal dentist. Zaid brings extensive clinical experience and a special interest in implant and prosthodontic dentistry, alongside a commitment to the same gentle, patient-first care Paradise Point has come to trust. He looks forward to caring for you and your family for many years to come.

About the team

Meet your dentists

The friendly faces behind Aqua Dental — here to care for you and your family.

Dr Zaid Al Momani, Principal Dentist at Aqua Dental, Paradise Point

Dr Zaid Al Momani

Principal Dentist

  • Masters in Restorative Dentistry (Distinction), University of Liverpool
  • Fellowship, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh
  • Special interest in prosthodontic & implant dentistry
Book with Dr Zaid

Dr Zaid grew up in Jordan, where he completed his dental degree before moving to the United Kingdom to pursue his passion for excellence in dentistry.

He earned a Masters in Restorative Dentistry with Distinction from the University of Liverpool. He went on to gain experience at some of the most respected dental institutions — such as Guy's Hospital London, Leeds Dental Institute, and Edinburgh Dental Institute — before earning his Fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Prosthodontics.

Dr Zaid's passion spans the full breadth of dentistry. He loves the transformation of a smile makeover, the precision of dental implants, and the reassurance he can offer patients facing wisdom teeth removal. But he finds just as much joy in the quieter moments — getting to know families, hearing people's stories, and being a consistent, trusted presence in their lives.

Since moving to Australia, Dr Zaid has regularly travelled to Gladstone, Mount Isa, and Inverell to bring his surgical expertise — implants, wisdom teeth removal, and complex cosmetic work — to communities that truly need it.

Now, Dr Zaid is thrilled to call the Gold Coast home. The ocean has clearly been calling him for some time — he holds a marine driving licence and can't wait to explore the beautiful waters on his doorstep through jet skiing, fishing, and scuba diving. Away from the water, you'll find him in the kitchen experimenting with new recipes (please do share your favourites — he'll be delighted), on the squash court, or picking up new languages. Spanish is the current project.

Most of all, Dr Zaid has a genuine curiosity about people. He believes every person who sits in his chair has something to teach him — and he is truly grateful for that.

We warmly invite you to come in and meet Dr Zaid.

Dr Moira Hamilton, Dentist at Aqua Dental, Paradise Point

Dr Moira Hamilton

Dentist

  • BDSc (Honours), University of Queensland
  • Special interest in restorative dentistry, oral surgery & gum disease
  • Former clinical supervisor, Griffith University
Book with Dr Moira

Dr Moira Hamilton graduated from the University of Queensland with Honours in 1990, and has been caring for Gold Coast families ever since.

Kind, gentle and compassionate, Moira looks after patients of every age — from the very young to the very old and everyone in between — with a personalised, evidence-based approach. She is known for her warm, caring nature and for taking the time to build lasting, trusting relationships, so that patients feel relaxed and well-informed throughout their treatment.

Moira practises all aspects of general dentistry with a strong preventive focus. Her special interests include saving teeth, complex restorative work, oral surgery, the treatment of gum disease, and caring for patients with complex medical conditions — the kind of thoughtful, careful dentistry that keeps smiles healthy for the long term.

She has been in private practice on the Gold Coast since 1993, and practised alongside her husband, Dr Peter Barry, from 2001. After 25 years working side by side, Peter has retired — and both Moira and Peter are delighted to welcome Dr Zaid Al Momani to the practice, and to see the care they built continue in such good hands.

For five years, Moira also held a part-time role providing clinical supervision to final-year dental students at Griffith University. Her early career was spent with Queensland Health, with postings to the School Dental Service in Mount Isa and, later, the adult clinic at Townsville Hospital.

Away from the chair, you'll find Moira on the tennis court, at the gym or in a yoga class, out walking the dog, or spending time with her family — her twin boys are now grown up and building careers of their own.

We'd love for you to come in and meet Dr Moira.
